All About Me!

All About Me!

Hello! My name is Heather Sheehan and I am so excited to have the opportunity to bring these two literacy programs to you! I have been working with children since I was very young and have ALWAYS known that I have wanted to be a teacher. I have been fortunate enough to work with children in a broad range of settings including: teaching in a classroom, instructing students at various sport camps, teaching children athletic and social skills, mentoring students in a one on one setting and public speaking to children about various life skills and strategies. I have an absolute unwavering passion for working with children and cannot wait to have a long and exciting teaching career! I completed my 15 week internship at Alexander Gibson Memorial School in Marysville, New Brunswick under the supervision of Lynn Facey. Lynn was amazing and really allowed me to take the reins and implelment many of the activities featured in Alphabet Steps to Literacy as well as the entire Passport to Literacy program. I have seen absolutely amazing results with both programs! Students' self-esteem has gone through the roof. Some struggling readers in the class have actually come up to me to tell me that they now LOVE reading! I honestly believe this is what teaching is all about. Teaching is about making children feel like they are a success. I hope that you can have as much fun and success with these programs as I have!
