About Me and What I Want out of this Class

My name is Amber Chapman and I am a sophomore at Ashland University. I am studying to be a middle education teacher with the concentrations of math and history. I am engaged to my best friend and we plan on starting our lives together as soon as I graduate! I love playing softball and my fiance' has recently got me addicted to killing zoombies on call of duty black opps for the ps3 :) I am okay with technology but I could use some help. There is always room for improvement, right?! I hope to learn a lot from this class. I think that as a teacher you always need to stay one step ahead of your students when it comes to technology. I think this is true because as the new generations come to be they seem to be up on technology faster and faster in life. If you as their teacher don't understand and incorporate it into your lessons I don't think the students will understand or have the will to learn anymore.

Resources for Students to Use

http://mathplayground.com/index.html This is a great website for students to learn math in a fun and enjoyable way! There are games and practice problems in various areas in math! http://mathforum.org/students/middle/ This is a great site for students to practice there math skills. http://www.sldirectory.com/studf/research4.html I think that this is a good site for middle school students to research history for themselves. And they could learn about what they find to be interesting not just what we as teachers want them to learn.

Resources for Teachers to Use

http://www.techtrekers.com/sim.htm I found this website very usefully because they had power points and different notes. I think that this could really be helpful to set up lesson plans! http://www.ode.state.oh.us/GD/Templates/Pages/ODE/ODEDefaultPage.aspx?page=1 This is needed for any teacher to use so they know the different standards that they need to cover in their teaching. http://www.teachingamericanhistory.org/ This is a great source for different historical documents. My professors have used this site and I love reading actual documents rather than than reading things out of a book.
