Title ERROR: An "Error 6000: Unknown Error" Error Occurs When Logging in to a Repository.

Summary

When you attempt to log in to a repository, you may receive the following error message:

    Error 6000: Unknown Error

Cause

The possible causes for this error are listed below:

  1. The necessary .dll files are not correctly registered. See Resolution 1.
  2. Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 is installed and/or DCOM security is not configured correctly. See Resolution 2.
  3. DCOM is not enabled on the Laserfiche client workstation. See Resolution 3.

Resolution 1

Re-register the LaserficheServerObjects.dll and LFEngPS.dll files.

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following and click OK to register LaserficheServerObjects.dll:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\LFObjects\LaserficheServerObjects.dll"

  3. Repeat step 1.
  4. In the Run dialog box, type the following and click OK to register LFEngPS.dll:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Laserfiche\LFObjects\LFEngPS.dll"
