Hello Friends and Families of Claymont Drama Club,
Ms. Hutchinson and Ms. Morrow are thrilled to be working together for their 8th year with the Claymont Drama Club. We have had 7 years for of smiles, growth, and applause, and look forward to another year working with the talented students of Claymont Elementary!
It is our goal to foster:
~ a love of theatrre
~ a passion for the spoken and written word
~ an appreciation of others through teamwork
~ a growth in self-esteem and creative expression
Our production this year is a musical entitled, The Universe and Other Stuff. It consists of seven scenes which the co-directors have divided. Actors have been cast, scripts have been distributed, and rehearsals are in full swing.
We appreciate your support of this artistic and educaitonal club, and hope that parents will check the "Help Needed" page often to help insure the success of this endeavor.
3,2,1,...Showtime!
CONTRACTS WILL BE UPHELD!
Please remember that the contracts signed by students and parents clearly state the terms of remaining a member in this extra-curricular club. We want to make this an enjoyable learning experience for everyone, directors included, so we will have to release those students who aren't able to hold their part of the deal. It would be unfair to other members if we did not keep it fair and fun!
We continue to have problems with:
-members who miss rehearsals, and do not give us a written excuse such as absence from school or an after school appointment...We've been doing this for years, and it has been our experience that students who do not attend regularly often need to be replaced just before showtime. We hope to avoid that problem. Two unexcused absences and you're out!
-members who do not have their scripts, or have not rehearsed their scripts and songs throughout the week
-members who cannot listen to and follow directions...several would be happier in a social club!
-parents who do not (make arrangements to) pick their children up by 5:00 pm. Please let us know ahead of time if there is a conflict we can help you with, but Drama Club does end at 4:45 pm.
We thank all members and parents for your commitment and help, and assure you that- if we all do our part, it's going to be a wonderful experience and an amazing production!
