Division is when a number gets put into another number a certain ammount of times. For example, 20 divided by 5 = 4 (5 number 4s are added together to make 20.) When you get harder division, e.g 200 divided by 10 you can use the bus-stop method. It looks like this... 20 -------- 10| 200 Any other WORKING method will do. ----------------

Multiplication is when you see how many times a number is added to itself to make a bigger number. For example, to see how many times 4 must be added to itself to make 20, you do 4x?=20. Multiplication is better known as timesing but the mathematical word for it is multiplication. It's a easier way to do adding but the numbers added must be the number itself, for example 4x5 = 4+4+4+4+4.

Adding is when you add one number to another. When your a child, you probabily count on your fingers. It is the easiest way of counting, take 3 of your finger and then put up 2 more and you'll see you have 5 fingers= 3+2=5

Subtracting is when you take numbers away from other numbers. Take your fingers again. Put up 5 fingers, now put down 3 and you'll see you have 2 fingers left = 5-3=2
