The fifth grade classes are reading various chapter books.  Some titles include:  Mr. Popper's Penguins, The Box Car Children, Wringer, and Dear Mr. Henshaw.

There will be a spelling test this week. 

Your child will receive a spelling list every Monday. 

Developing sentences and adding details is our current focus in writing.  We are also learning about different types of nouns.

We will be finishing our rough drafts on a special person or special place this week.

We are working on multiplying whole numbers and identifying properties of multiplication.

We are learning about famous European Explorers and their voyages across the Atlantic Ocean. 

Remember your child  has access to their Social Studies book on-line!

The Quick Study is a very helpful study tool.

Our current unit is "Forces and Motion".

We will be learning about friction, gravity, pushes and pulls.

Don't forget to read at  home for at least 20 minutes a day.

Our next family RAH night is December 9th.

The 5th graders will be reading a novel about chocolate, we will also be going on a field trip and enjoying a pancake breakfast at school!  This unit will take place between Thanksgiving and our December break.  We are collecting $10.00 per child to cover the costs.  We will not be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this year, it's a different book and your child will keep their copy!
