A Plant Cell
This is a basic model of a plant cell
chromosomes
- Usually in the form of chromatin - Contains genetic information - Composed of DNA - Thicken for cellular division - Set number per species (i.e. 23 pairs for human)
Nucleus
Cytoskeleton
As its name implies, the cytoskeleton helps to maintain cell shape. But the primary importance of the cytoskeleton is in cell motility. The internal movement of cell organelles, as well as cell locomotion and muscle fiber contraction could not take place without the cytoskeleton. The cytoskeleton is an organized network of three primary protein filaments: microtubules, actin filaments, and intermediate fibers.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
If you look at Point 3 you will see the Endoplasmic Reticulum
Cytoplasm
Cytoplasm is the material that lies within the cytoplasmic membrane. It does not contain any genetic material, and it is not contained in the nucleus. it does contain quite a bit of water, and "suspends" the other organelles of the cell. All of the functions of cell expansion, growth and replication are carried out in the cytoplasm.
Lysosome
Peroxisome
Peroxisomes are ubiquitous organelles in eukaryotes that participate in the metabolism of fatty acids and other metabolites. They have enzyms that rid the cell of toxic peroxides. They contain a single lipid bylayer membrane that seperates their contents from the cytosol(internal fluid of cell). Peroxisomes were identified as cellular organelles by the Belgian cytologist Christian de Duve in 1967.
Mitochandrion
Ribosome
A pretty tree
This is a picture that shows the gret wonders of chlorplasts working in the plant to give it its color!
Nucleolus
The nucleolus is a promient sub-nuclear structure that is NOT bound by a membrane, it resides within the nuclear matrix. Although the nucleolus has been known to exist since the 1800's, it's function was not determined until the 1960's. it's primary function is manufacturing the subunits that combine to form ribosomes. The nucleolus is considerable in size, sometimes taking up as much as 25% of the total volume of a cell.
Vacuoles
VAcuoles help shape the plant cell
Golgi apparatus
the golgi apparatus is used to store and distribute proteins to the rest of the cell.
The cell wall
this is a picture of a cell wellThe diagram gives the title of each part that makes up the cell wall
cell membrane
the cell membrane is what like protects the cytoplasm in a cell.It is basically a guard for the cell.
The cytoplasm
the cytoplasm is protected by the cell membrane. It protects the nucleus
