What Does y=mx+c mean ? The 'm' means the gradient which is the steepness of the line on the Linear Graph, The 'c' is where the line crosses the y axis, this is called the "Y-Intercept". Some people don't understand Indices, I'm here to help you with some rules..... 1. 1 to the power of anything is 1.... (Eg) 1 to the power of 5 is 1. This is because it would be (1x1x1x1x1) so the answer will be 1. 2. Anything times by 1 is itself.... (Eg) 36 to the power of 1 is 36. This is because 36x1 is 36. 3. Anything to the power of 0 is 1..... (Eg) 4 to the power of 0 is 1. so basically it could be any number but the answer would still be 1. 4. Anything to the power of a half is its square root.... (Eg) 4 to the power of a half is 2. 5. Anything to the power of a third is its cube root.... (Eg) 8 to the power of a third is 2. This is because 8 divided by 2 equals 4 then if you divide it by 2 again its 2. 6. When you divide powers, you subtract them.... (Eg) 6(12) divided by 6(10) = 6(2). So its basically 12 minus 10 so its 2. 7. When you multiply powers, you add them..... (Eg) 7(3) times by 7(10) = 7(13). So its basically 3 plus 10 so its 13.
